The researchers at MOLLI Surgical have framed a cutting-edge wire-free breast localization technology that generally consists of an implantable marker of 3.2 mm in length that is used for the localization of nonpalpable, small tumors along with a visualization tablet and a detection wand. This electromagnetic & non-radioactive marker is then implanted in the breast in less than a month before the surgery or on the day of surgery. The surgeon then uses the wand that accurately detects the marker for efficiently removing the lesion present in that location. This highly advanced method improves the efficacy of lumpectomy workflow & safety as compared to that of the radioactive or wire seed methods.

 

WIRELESS BREAST LOCALIZATION BY THE USAGE OF RADIO-FREQUENCY.

This research study was performed at the Princess Grace Hospital of London, UK, as a crucial part of the clinical implementations of a brand-new breast cancer localization screening technology.

  • Faxitron Localizer Handheld Reader Device was used intra-operatively to locate the RFID tag implanted at the tumor site before conducting the surgery. 

  • Specimen Radiograph was also used to demonstrate the RFID (Radio-Frequency Identification) tag that was adjacently situated to the hydrogel marker (H) in a breast cancer patient who received NACT. The histology showed that Ductal carcinoma and the other symptoms were accurately detected.
