Measuring of body tissues using 3D Optical Microscopy technique

Posted On:   Mar-2022   |   Categories : Healthcare

One of the most vital techniques used to measure the body tissues is 3D Optical Microscopy. It is a technique that is used in a wide range of industries. 3D Optical Microscopy is primarily used to obtain the 3D surface representation from a microscopic image. Moreover, in the biomedical research processes and various medical applications, 3D Optical Microscopy finds its immense utilization. It enables the physician to have a detailed observation and imaging of the body tissues. It is mostly practiced in the medical industry as most of the biological materials are not transparent. Through this technique, one can easily observe the surfaces of the tissue, including all the details regarding the layers of the multiple cell structures. Moreover, by utilizing other microscopes, it is not possible to measure the above-mentioned parameters.

Furthermore, finding the details regarding the various multiple-level tissues and the surfaces of the tissue is a very challenging task for any professional. However, the process of 3D optical microscopy makes the whole job a lot easier. Moreover, the reflection matrix is measured accurately because of this technique, thereby widening the understanding of light propagation.

Getting the right picture quality through other techniques consumes a lot of time. But the, 3D optical microscopy provides better imaging at different depths. In addition, it works well in generating high-resolution 3D images with less noise production.

A lot of researchers are well involved in microscopic imaging technology. However, the reflection matrix is the technique that consumes more time compared to other microscopic imaging techniques. It is because measuring different images are well involved in the entire process of the reflection matrix. Moreover, with this technique, one can obtain the images of biological tissues in HD containing low noises.

The journal Light: Science & Applications contains the latest research about the techniques involved in 3D Optical Microscopy. Inside the journal, the IBS group revealed an improved and a newer version of their AO microscope technology. With the help of this AO microscope technology, the 3D imaging process and a vast depth range in highly aberrated samples are delivered, thereby minimizing the degradation of the images formed.

Moreover, to speed up the entire data acquisition in matrix imaging processes, a compressed sensing technique is used by Choi's team. Hence a rotating optical diffuser is well utilized by the team. They previously employed this diffuser so that the unknown speckle patterns could be illuminated on a sample in a sequence. After that, they finally had gained a compressed reflection matrix. In this case, only a few speckle images are considered compared to the number of speckle images taken previously. This had minimized the overall consumed time by like 100 times.

Lastly, the team intends to manufacture the microscopes as small as possible. Doing so, it will make a bit easier in the case of early diagnosing the patients who are suffering from various types of illness and further, it will become a standardization for the medical industry as well.
